“Get in the car, guys!” Dad yelled as he was about to leave.
“I wonder where we are going?” Cheese says to Mack.
“It’s Wednesday guys and it is Kids Eat Free Day at Toobie Ruesday’s. Who doesn’t love free food, right!?” asked Dad.
It was a quick 10 minute drive over to our local family eatery. It was an even shorter wait to be seated at our table.
Mom ordered her favorite West Coast Chicken Salad. Dad ordered his steak. Medium, of course, and a side salad. Cheese ordered his favorite, Mini Corn Dogs and Fries… no salt with a side of bleu cheese dressing.
While we waited on our food, we played games.
“Come on Cheese. Let’s play tic-tac-toe. I’m X’s. You go first.” ordered Mack.
Mom and Dad answered trivia questions and then we all tried to make our way through the menus’ mazes. Dad made it out the fastest. The food finally came!
Cheese complained, “Well it’s about time! How long did it take, Dad?”
“40 minutes!” Dad said sharply to the waiter.
Dad usually times the service of the food. A couple of restaurants ago, it took over an hour for our food to get to the table. ‘Never again.’ Dad said on that day. Ever since then he timed the service.
Dad continued, “It must have been Mack’s food to hold the rest of our food up!”
Mom’s salad came, Dad’s steak and salad came, Cheese’s corn dogs and fries came, and finally Mack’s food came.
What do you think Mack ordered?
